« Alain Germain’s production was not a period reconstruction. How could it be, with a chorus of only twenty, a ballet company of four ? Yet he deployed his forces to maximum effect – formally, gracefully, ingeniously. The choristers could also dance, and dance they did, in a stunning battle sequence and a pretty divertissement. EBF regulars know how to move. All in all this carefully conceived, well executed revival of Le Siège is a hight point of the Rossini bicentenary. »
